Race Day FAQ's for Spectators

How do I get there?
Getting there is easy, with access via the Northwood Lake Town Beach. There will be volunteers at the beach ready to help direct you to the spectator parking area. Check out the "Directions" tab in the menu on the left of this screen.

When should I arrive?
Racing starts between 11am and noon. We open the gates for drivers and pit crews between 8am and 9am. On a nice day, the spectator area fills up fast, and you may want to arrive as early as 10am.

How much racing will I see?
We run 2 heats and a main race at minimum, but there is always the possibility for more. We have had motorcycles, 4 wheelers, and even modified car divisions.

When does racing end?
Racing generally ends between 1pm and 2pm, but can run longer.

When will I know when racing is over?
There can be long breaks between races, for plowing the track and prepping for the next race. You will know when racing is over when the racing flags are pulled off of the track, and the race cars pack up. The pits clear out pretty quickly at the end of racing, making it very clear when the race day is over.

Am I allowed to check out the race cars in the pits?
Only drivers, pit crews, and approved volunteers are allowed in the pits without an escort. We are more than happy to show off our race cars to you, but please find a member and ask for an escort before going into the pits.

Where do I watch the races from?
We have prepared a spectator section for you to watch the races from. This area is on the frozen lake. Most spectators watch from the warmth of their vehicle parked on the spectator area,  but if you would rather not park on the lake, there is parking at the beach and you can walk down to the lake to watch the races.

What do the different flags mean?
GREEN FLAG: Start of the race!
CROSS FLAGS: Half-way point of the race
YELLOW FLAG: Problem on the track, racers should proceed with caution
RED FLAG: Dangerous situation on the track, racers must stop in a safe manner
BLACK FLAG: Dangerous situation, vehicle must return to pits immediately
CHECKER FLAG: Race is finished
ROLLED BLACK FLAG: Warning to one specific racer
